owls, flowers and pussy cats!

As you may know it's market season! The weather is slightly warmer that usual and people are taking the risk (with umbrella back up) by venturing out and about to seek and find something delightful. Craft markets are great places to find something unusually beautiful and more importantly it will be hand made!

Here at by-louise we've been researching it to Arts and Craft markets of London, firstly as we think it makes for a great weekend adventure and secondly as we want to get our handmade goods down there for you to marvel at! So take a look at what we've come up with, hopefully they will entice you to come to a market of ours soon! Watch this blog!

We have a great selection of homewares, jewellry and some knitted woolly creations (coming soon) that would make a perfect gift either for your self or for that someone special!
check out more pictures on our 'Flickr' site ---------->

Also check out our 'Markets We Love' list if you fancy being adventurous this weekend.

Knit - tastic

Here at by-louise ceramics is supposed to be our thing, but as we've been doing some Internet surf's up dude research we've come across some great contemporary ideas that uses a skill which dates back 100's of years...yes you've guessed it knitting!

Donna Wilson's cloud blanket just makes you feel like you want curl up for an afternoon nap on cloud nine, while her knitted cupcakes are truly good enough to eat! A little woolly we suspect!

Now this young man and his moustache have been knitted for a very good cause indeed.Stitch and Bitch London, are London's feisty but friendly knitting group who organise knit 'meet up's' all across London absolutely free! This year they organised 'Knit Crawl 2009' for a manlier cause (as they put it) - Prostate Cancer. So as part of this manlier theme they knitted moustaches, in all shapes and colours. Check out their blog for more great pics from the day!

We absolutely love Strikk Handknits! It's the idea of giving such a traditional classic knitting pattern a contemporary twist, and the shocking pink just adds the glamour!

So watch this space for new woolly creations from us!....need to dust off the ol' needles and get clicking! :)

June 2008

Central Saint Martins degree show marks the end of 3 years hard work and the beginning of a life time of success, we all hoped! 2008's Ceramic design degree show was curated by the graduating 3rd years. We decided to give our show an element that wouldn't be forgotten! So instead of boring plinths we used recycled domestic furniture, painted white to mute details. So creating a blank canvas of the furniture but with a memory or reference to the domestic environment. It looked great and for those of you who got the chance to see it we hope you felt the same!

Phew! all done for 2008....keep posted to see what by-louise gets up to in 2009!

Hopefully we'll be just as busy!
